Lawsuit challenges Md. tax on digital ad revenue

Litigation filed by the US Chamber of Commerce and other groups alleges that Maryland has unlawfully adopted a tax on revenue from digital advertising services. A legal victory for Maryland “would be an incentive for more states to levy more taxes like this, which would essentially be an increase in the number of taxes on Silicon Valley,” said Ryan Maness of MultiState, a state and local government relations company.
